What is Resource Therapy?
Resource Therapy is a trauma informed empowering psychotherapy based on the understanding that the personality is composed of parts.  The part that presents an issue in therapy is seldom the part that needs change. The presenting part is usually reporting, or complaining, about another part of themselves.  I.e., the part that get's anxious, or the part that cannot stop eating sugary food. The Resource Therapist is able to skilfully bring the part of the personality that needs change into the therapeutic process; to speak with it compassionately and respectfully so that it can be worked with directly.  Resource Therapy facilitates a quicker, deeper, and longer lasting change.

A theory of personality underlies Resource Therapy.
The following terms are core to that theory.
Resource State: A personality part
Conscious State: Only one Resource State may occupy the conscious at any time.
Surface States: Other parts that are observing and interacting with the Conscious State. These parts will have recall of what happened while they were surface.  The Conscious State is able hear their suggestions or complaints.
Underlying States: Subconscious parts that are dissociated from the conscious. They will not have a memory of what happened while they were underlying.
If a Resource State moves to the Conscious from an underlying position the person will not recall what was just happening. Sometimes clients may notice this while driving or while reading. A person suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder will notice this often.
States often change positions from Conscious, Surface, and Underlying positions.
Whether you are here in search of a therapy that may help you solve or resolve difficulties in your own life, or you are here in search of a more effective therapy to assist your clients or patients, we welcome you.

Resource Therapy is receiving much attention around the world as a superior trauma informed strength based parts psychotherapy, capable of attending to and relieving PTSD, including complex presentations. The power of RT lies in its ability to treat long standing client issues immediately and effectively within the therapy hour, bringing about significant improvement and often complete and lasting relief from the presenting issue.
Resource Therapy was developed by Professor Gordon Emmerson as a clinical evolution of his knowledge of Ego State Therapy, cognitive psychology, hypnosis and client experience.
